Faculty-Student Mentoring Resources

At UC Davis, we believe that mentorship is a priceless investment in student and institutional success. UC Davis Graduate Studies supports and advances graduate faculty-student mentoring through a variety of efforts, most notably the Mentoring at Critical Transitions Seminar Series, the Mentoring at Critical Transitions Fellowship, and the Distinguished Graduate and Distinguished Postdoctoral Scholar Mentoring Awards.

Financial Support

Financial support for graduate study at UC Davis is available in several forms, including: internal and external fellowships, academic employment and nonresident supplemental tuition programs. There are different procedures for applying for each type of financial assistance, so it is essential that you apply as early as possible for financial support.

Registration and Enrollment

University policy requires continuous registration for students from the first quarter of enrollment in a program until completion of the degree. To be considered a registered student, students must be enrolled in coursework or 299 (research) units and pay tuition and fees for the quarter.

Initiative for Maximizing Student Development Program

UC Davis is proud to offer support to underrepresented students entering doctoral programs in the biomedical sciences through the National Institutes of Health-Initiative for Maximizing Student Development (NIH-IMSD). The IMSD program aims to increase biomedical and behavioral sciences Ph.D. degree holders from underrepresented groups.
